Legal Specialist - Parker-Hannifin (Mayfield Heights, Ohio)

Parker is seeking a Legal Specialist having intellectual property experience in its legal department located at its corporate headquarters in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. The position includes providing administrative support to a number of Parker attorneys, including four (4) Intellectual Property attorneys. Candidates must have experience in performing and managing intellectual property related activities including the procurement of US and foreign patent applications, communication with supporting counsel, managing dockets, etc.

In addition to supporting the IP related activities, other administrative support will include file management, preparing and filing expense reports, preparing travel arrangements, and incoming billing administration. Experience with electronic docketing and matter management required, and familiarity with Memotech and Tymetrix T360 a plus.

This is currently a hybrid position and allows one day of remote working, which is subject to change at management discretion.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in patent and intellectual property law. This position requires a person familiar with intellectual property language and procedures, particularly those relating to patents and USPTO regulations; extensive experience in the preparation of legal documents required for patent filings; maintaining legal dockets; and excellent computer skills (particularly Word and Excel). This position requires strong follow-up skills, prioritization skills for meeting statutory deadlines and handling a diverse workload; a strong attention to detail and adherence to exacting professional standards; strong organizational skills; the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time; excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside counsel and staff in a positive and professional manner. The individual must be proactive in identifying key actions and communicating on a regular basis with each assigned attorney or paralegal to ensure that all required actions are taken on a timely basis to protect the company's legal rights.
